Martin leads on IEMA’s policy and external engagement activity. He works in the UK and internationally to support the transition to a low carbon, resource efficient, and sustainable economy.
Martin is a regular media spokesperson on a range of business sustainability topic areas. He has extensive experience of networking and communicating at all levels, including with senior parliamentarians, Government officials, business leaders, and academia.
Martin has national and international experience in developing and negotiating global and European standards and developing capacity for effective and widespread implementation. He is chair of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) sub-committee on environmental management systems and head of the UK delegation.
Martin is a board member of IEMA and also the Society for the Environment (SocEnv). He is a Fellow of IEMA and the RSA, and a Chartered Environmentalist.

With a background in public and private sector consultancy serving Local Authorities, Sara has over fifteen years of local government and sustainable development experience. Sara has delivered project management for the West of England wide “Local Sustainable Transport Fund” and set up the Cycling City advisor team for Bristol City Council. Sara has more recently been leading on Go Ultra Low West project for North Somerset Council, overseeing the roll out of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. After receiving the GreenFleet EV Champion Award in 2018 and featuring on the EV100 list in 2019 and 2020, Sara was invited to participate in an exchange visit with the Dutch embassy to explore how Holland has embraced electric mobility and clean energy. Sara has a focus on Fleet and helping the UK to decarbonise the UK transport sector
